WWDB? Ben & Jerry's Late Night Snack

Ok one more WWDB post for today.

This is one of my favorite Ben & Jerry's flavors. It isn't the best vanilla bean ice cream I've ever had. Personally, I could probably do without the vanilla bean ice cream. But that salted caramel swirl is to-die-for. I wish there was more of it throughout the ice cream! Or if the ice cream were entirely salted caramel flavor instead of vanilla bean, that would be THE best. Or at least this Dulce Delish ice cream base rather than vanilla bean.

I should get into the ice cream-making business.

Oh and my favorite part about this ice cream is the chocolate-covered potato chip clusters. Because I'm all about the sweet and salty mix. I love salted caramel for one, and the addition of these salty potato chip clusters really sets it over the top and satiates my salty-sweet craving.

Now I just need to contact Ben & Jerry and either a.) plant the seed in their heads about making the whole ice cream a salted caramel flavor or their Dulce Delish flavor  OR  b.) convince them I need a job in the creative flavor-making committee.

Either way, eat this if you love ice cream and saltiness and caramel and potato chips. Because really, is there a good excuse to ever pass up those things? Didn't think so.

Peace, and bacon grease!

WWDB? Berry Burst Ice Cream Oreos

These are the best Oreos EVER

So much better than the regular Oreos. Even better than the double stuffed.

That's saying alot.

I made my Oreo Truffles using these and man were they scrum-diddly-umptious. Amped them up a bit with that extra berry burst flavor.

I don't think I'll ever go back to a regular Oreo again.

Oh, and I have seen them in stores for awhile now so I don't think it's a seasonal thing, and hopefully not a limited edition kinda thing. These must remain in my life for a long time to come.

WWDB? Ben & Jerry's Dulce Delish Ice Cream

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaack. Man I never post anymore! It's that dang school that's holding me back, I tell ya! I've got to find a way to balance work, school, and this amazing hobby I love.

So here's a super quick post.

If you love caramel like I do, go buy this.

Caramel on caramel.

Nuff said.

Hope you all are doing great! I sure have missed you :)

WWDB? Red Velvet Chocolate Milk

Go to Target and buy this.

Seriously.

It's Christmas in a glass.

Yep, holiday red velvet chocolate milk.

I first discovered it last Christmas season and have been waiting all year to get some more. Seriously, they need to sell this stuff all year long. Just take off the "holiday" and red velvet milk can be enjoyed any time of year, in my humble red-velvet lovin' opinion.

But for now, since it's not sold all year round, make sure to stock up on this stuff next time you're at Target. I didn't think there was any way to make chocolate milk better. There is... just make it red velvet chocolate milk. Sold!

Peace, and bacon grease!

WWDB? Ben & Jerry's Maple Blondie Ice Cream

Wow, it's been awhile since I've wrote up a WWDB? post. And if you dunno what that is, it stands for WHAT WOULD DESI BUY? When I test a product and love it, I like to share it with you all so you can enjoy it too.

You're about to see alot of posts about ice cream that I would recommend. Yes, we eat alot of ice cream. And yes, we both are somewhat lactose intolerant. Lactaid comes in handy at our house :)

Are you guys fans of Ben & Jerry's ice cream? Me, I think they're pretty durn fun. They make ice cream tasty, of course, as well as super cool and fun. One that I've recently tasted and liked alot was Maple Blondie. If you like maple flavors, you'll love this. It's a maple-flavored ice cream with maple blondie chunks with a maple caramel swirl. How can you pass up maple, blondies, and caramel? Obviously, I couldn't!

And I've gotta try this controversial Schweddy Balls! Anybody had it, or is it banned in your house?

What are your fave ice cream brands and flavors?

P.S. Any ideas on what to call these posts? I originally thought of it as a spin on WWJD/What Would Jesus Do? But now, WWDB makes me feel a bit sacrilegious.  Anyone got a different creative name for these product review and recommendation posts I do?

Note to self: Don't equate myself with Jesus.

WWDB? Tostitos Restaurant Style with a Hint of Pepper Jack Tortilla Chips

I'm baaaaaaaaack. It's been a little while since I've suggested some foodie products for you all to buy. But I'm back. With chips. Not just any chips. Tortilla chips. Not just any tortilla chips. Flavored tortilla chips. Did you guys know they were doing this now? I sure didn't. And I'm loving it. It's pretty much like the Doritos idea of a flavored tortilla chip, except this is the Frito Lay Tostitos brand who's doing it now, and with just a hint of the flavoring as opposed to Doritos who pile on the seasoning. I'm not too big on tortilla chips as it is, so I'm looking for any way to enhance the flavor. I was diggin these new tortilla chips with a hint of pepper jack cheese in them. I also saw bags with a hint of lime. I know that would be good too. Their website says they also have ones with a hint of jalapeno. I bet all of them are tasty! But I'll be sure to test the others out soon and let you know how it goes.

These chips work great for your usual dipping in salsa, in taco salads, or even just as a plain snack all by itself. We used them in and for dipping in a delicious taco salad that I'll be sure to share with you soon.

So next time you're throwing a party and need some tortilla chips, don't go for the plain kind, jazz it up a bit and opt for one of these bags. I bet they'll add a "hint of" tastiness.

Peace,  and bacon grease!

WWDB? Sweeties Jumbo Chocolates

Located off US Highway 250 E in Ashland, Ohio... on your way to the Cleveland or Akron area... you will find Grandpa's Cheesebarn. Guess what they sell there! Stop and get you some fancy cheese, then stop on in their other neighboring store, Sweeties Jumbo Chocolates. I had heard so many great stories about the Cheesebarn at work. And once, a coworker brought back some delicious chocolate treats from this amazing place. And thus begun my love affair with sea salt covered caramels....

Once I tried those sea salt covered caramels, I instantly went to their website to see about ordering online, since I knew I wouldn't hardly ever be in the Cleveland area. What do you know, they do sell their chocolates online! Woot Woot! So I purchased some Dark Chocolate Covered Caramels with Sea Salt, and some Milk Chocolate Kettle Cooked Potato Chips. I later found that you can order the sea salt caramels in a milk chocolate, rather than dark chocolate. They are jumbo, and pricey. But well worth it in my humble opinion. But you can be the judge of that. My sea salt caramels came in a package with two jumbo sized dark chocolate-covered caramels, for a little more than $5 a package. I wasn't too fond of the chocolate covered kettle chips, but I think that was just a personal preference because I don't really like kettle chips. I would like them more if they were more like chocolate-covered Ruffles, or Grippos, or Mike-sells. But that's just me. So one time I ordered them online...

The next time I actually had the pleasure of going there!

We were on our way to Akron for my niece's Super Sweet 16 birthday. Yeah, we do it big lol. Like the rich bratty girls on MTV, except.... NOT!  I had completely forgotten about Grandpa's Cheesebarn being on the way to Cleveland, until I saw sign after sign telling me that it was off the next exit or so. I begged for us to stop! They were totally cool with that. Nothin like a little sight seeing, going off the beaten path to find touristy treasures! We stopped in and bought some fudge, chocolate-covered fritos, and some milk chocolate-covered caramels with sea salt. I don't even like fritos, and these were amazing! The blend of sweet and salty is spot on! I kind of went crazy in there. Oh, and we did see some Amish people working outside : )

So if you are going towards or live in or near the Cleveland area, go to Grandpa's Cheesebarn and Sweeties Jumbo Chocolates. If you are from the area, it is probably no stranger to you. In fact, it is probably legend... wait for it.... ary around them parts (anyone watch How I Met Your Mother?). If I lived up there, I would probably make a stop there once or twice a week! If you are traveling in that area, make it a point to stop by and enjoy this specialty shop. And if you don't live nearby and will never be in that area, then thank the almighty internet for making that not even matter! They'll ship it right to ya!

Don't have internet? That's cool, call them at 1-800-745-7091 to order. Without internet, I don't really know how you are reading this... but still. Just coverin my bases.

And well, if you have no phone, no internet, and no plans to travel to Ashland, then you are s.o.l. and I feel bad for you!

Peace, and bacon grease!

WWDB? Liberty Creek Cabernet Sauvignon

I'm super excited that my bestie is slowly but surely turning into a foodie! She used to never understand my love of cooking and food blogging and finding recipes. Now she has, thanks to Weight Watchers. She is trying to cook at home more and is really getting into it! So now I get to overload her with food blog recommendations and recipes to try and other miscellaneous foodie knowledge. I'm so excited... I've converted an anti-foodie!

And another foodie announcement.... I am now a red wine groupie. I used to hate it. Hate it. The warm temperature didn't appeal to me. If I was ever to drink a wine, it would be a white wine because it is chilled. But I wasn't too fond of white wine either. But Marcey and I were eating at Jag's for restaurant week, and were thinking about ordering cocktails, but felt like we needed to be fancier. Then we got into this long talk about how we both dislike wine, especially red wine, but wished we liked it because it is good for you and, besides, it looks classy and cool to sip from a wine glass and hold it ever so gently like a rich sophisticated lady. So she asked the waitress if we could try a couple samples of wine, and she let us try the House wine, which she later told us was Liberty Creek Cabernet Sauvignon. I loved the taste, and I loved the way it made me feel. Not like overly drunk, or the kind of tipsy you feel from beer. But just more of a relaxed tipsy that made me feel good. Oddly enough she loved it too! I left Jag's and immediately stopped at Kroger on my way home to see if they had a bottle. Marcey went her separate way and stopped at a Target looking for it. Neither store had it... BOOOOOOO!!!! I was on a mission to find it. I was just going to google it when I got home... good ole google solves all problems. Don't know an answer, just google it. It has become a regular saying in my house... "Just Google it." Anyways, by the time I got home she was texting me saying that she had called Jungle Jims and they carried it. Too bad it was late, and I had just left that area, and was nowhere near JJ. So I looked on the Party Source website, which is in Newport near my work. What do you know... they had it : ) So I stopped there the other day on my lunch break and bought me a bottle of that Cab.

It didn't make me feel too good to see it sold for a mere $6.99 for a huge bottle, and I spent $6.50 on a single glass at Jag's. Oh well. It was worth it to find the perfect wine for me.

So here's to another edition of WWDB? I would and did buy a bottle. Go buy some of this Liberty Creek Cabernet Sauvignon, if you like red wine. Definitely available at Jungle Jims, and Party Source.

I'm officially a wine-o.

WWDB? Murray's Chipotle Jack Cheese

It's time for another edition of WWDB?

Aren't you excited?

I have been on a cheese kick for awhile now. I love going to Jungle Jim's and places that offer a wide variety of unique cheeses. Cheese makes everything better, ya know? So time to move on from the pre-sliced processed American cheese you find in your local grocers. I did find this in Kroger, but this particular Kroger had an elaborate cheese station with all kinds of cheeses that I haven't seen in any other Kroger. It is the Newport, KY Kroger if you live round these here parts. This Kroger is deluxe! And they put little cheese samples out so that you can try it first. Yes, they have some very stinky and unique cheese selections, but I opted to start with something I knew I would love but never tried yet. I love pepper jack cheese. That spiciness, mmmmmmmm! So when I saw this Murray's Chipotle Jack cheese, I had to buy it. A little pricy, yes, but the finer cheeses are. We enjoyed this very much, just like I knew we would! You can serve it with crackers, fruit, and pepperoni.... or shred/grate it and use it as a topping.... or slice and use for a fancier grown-up grilled cheese, like we did.

I can't wait to test out some more fancy cheeses. And stay tuned for more delicious cheese suggestions : )

WWDB? Bugles!

*Welcome to another edition of WWDB?

What is
WWDB? you ask?

WWDB? = What would Desi buy?

and I'm Desi!!!

I am letting you know about good products that I test out that I love!

So what would Desi buy, you ask?

BUGLES!!!! Ok I know I am takin it back to like 1852 (not really... but they did first come out in 1966) with this, since they have been around for so long, but I forgot how much I love Bugles! I used to eat the cheesy kind as a kid, putting them on my fingertips and pretending they were long nails. I'd put them up to my face and act like I was thinking and pondering about something in depth, or I'd pretend to scratch my friends or mama with them. Bugles made playing with food, fun.

But I forgot about them for years and years. Until I saw some in a little convenience store by my work. I was starving and needed some quick snack and I saw those cheesy Bugles, and I wondered if they would still be as good as when I was a kid. Oh, they were. I seriously think I went back and bought out all the cheesy Bugles in the store. Only like five $.99 bags but still.

And then I went to another little convenience store around my work, and they had ranch Bugles! I had NEVER seen ranch ones. Of course I have seen Cool Ranch Doritos, but not Bugles. I was uber excited. So I stocked up on some of those too, and I just may like them more than the cheesy kind.

Now I am on the lookout for all the different flavors of Bugles! Is anyone else with me?! I've also seen a sweet and salty caramel flavor, and a sweet and salty peanut butter chocolate kind that I would love to try : )  I feel like they should have so many flavors out of these, like they make tons of Ruffles and Doritos flavors.  Wikipedia says that there are numerous flavors like chile cheese, sour cream and onion, salsa, smokin' bbq, churros, southwest ranch, hot buffalo, and hot & spicy bbq. Where are they?!!? Not in any of my grocery or convenience stores near me!

Bugle man... or fairy.... or cowboy, whoever and wherever you are, please bring me more-flavored Bugles.

Thanks in advance.

Love,
The Bugle Addict

WWDB? Bud Lite Lime

Welcome to another edition of WWDB?

What is WWDB? you ask?

WWDB? = What would Desi buy?

and I'm Desi!!!

I am letting you know about good products that I test out that I love!

So what would Desi buy, you ask?

Remember when I said that alcohol makes me happy? Well, here is another quick post to reiterate that :) I used to be a liquor kinda gurl. I'd sip on my vodka and rum drinks, and keep drinking and drinking because it tasted so good and I couldn't feel it yet. But of course it would creep up on me. And then I would be a little too tipsy for my likings, and feeling oh so gross the next day! So now I like to stick to beer. I never have been one of those people who loves the taste of beer. It actually repulsed me at first. And I have found that the regular beers just seem so heavy in my belly, so I like to stick to lite beer when I can. So I was really glad when I found this fruity and lite kinda beer, Bud Lite Lime. I have heard so many "true beer drinkers" claim that this is not real beer. That it tastes like crap. That it doesn't taste like.... well, beer! Which is totally fine by me, and maybe why I like it more. My fiancee and I both love it, it is our fave beer. So it can't be considered a girly beer if my man drinks it too! So if you are a true beer connoisseur, forgive my cheap, diluted taste. But if you don't really like the taste of beer and want something that is a little sweeter and fruitier, then try this refreshing Bud Lite Lime!

WWDB? Grippo's Seasoning

Welcome to another edition of WWDB?

What is WWDB? you ask?

WWDB? = What would Desi buy?

and I'm Desi!!!

I am letting you know about good products that I test out that I love!

So what would Desi buy, you ask?

Today I just wanted to tell you about a delish seasoning I found at the grocery store on a whim. I wasn't looking for it! I was just in the snack aisle looking for junk food, and happened to notice a bottle of Grippo's seasoning. Um... YUM! I didn't even know they made this stuff! I love Grippo's, especially when they have so much seasoning on them. And those are hard to find. Sometimes the small bags are the ones with alot of seasoning, but then other times I am disappointed. It's too hard to guess! So.... what better idea than to sell that famous, irresistible goodness in a bottle for people like me to put on whatever we like?! Now if I have a bag of Grippo's, I can drown them in my own seasoning. I have also used it on chicken. And it can be used on any meat! Or veggies! Or potatoes! Pretty much on anything if you ask me.

*Note: I was a little surprised at how expensive it was when I got to the cash register. But, like with many good spices and seasonings, sometimes you gotta pay for greatness  :)

WWDB? Mike's Crantini

WWDB? = What Would Desi Buy?

Alcohol makes all of us happy. Ok maybe not all of us but most of us. Ok maybe not most of us but some of us. Ok maybe not some of us but mainly I am talking about myself. I normally don't get these Mike's Hard Lemonade drinks anymore. They were so high school (underage drinking is not promoted here!). Now I need stronger drinks with MORE alcohol. But these were on sale at my liquor store for reasonably cheap so I thought I would try them. I love mixing vodka and cranberry juice, so I figured I would like these. Make sure to serve them extra cold! They aren't better than the real hard vodka stuff, but for a little mixed bottle drink... it was pretty tasty. It all started with the basic Mike's Hard Lemonade but has expanded. This is one of their premium cocktails. They come in packs of four, from what I have seen. In the premium cocktails collection, they also offer pomegranate martini, screwdriver, lemon-drop, mike-arita (like a margarita I'm guessing?), and mojito - all of which I need to try! Their website also says they sell Mike's Harder Lemonade and Mike's Harder Cranberry Lemonade, as well as Classic Margarita in traditional lime, raspberry, or peach flavors. I want to try but have not seen Mike's Hard Mango (or Pomegranate) Punch. They also make a tea version - Mike's Hard Tea (and Hard Light Tea). Well, that's all for now. Can't wait to enjoy one of these after work.

WWDB? Blue Diamond Almonds

WWDB? = What Would Desi Buy?

I never thought I was an almond kind of girl. I mean, I like nuts in my candy bars and ice cream, but not usually alone. Then I was introduced to a beautiful thing. Almonds. Specifically, Blue Diamond Bold flavor almonds. I have seen them sold at Walgreens, Kroger, and Bigg's in my own personal experience. They run about $3.49 or $3.99 for a 6 ounce can. They are soooo good! I have tried several flavors now. The Habanero BBQ, and the Wasabi & Soy Sauce are my two faves! They are both bursting with flavor. The Habanero BBQ have a meaty, barbeque flavor and at the same time a hint of heat. The Wasabi are exactly how they sound... strong, but delicious! They are packin the heat! One time, my dad picked me up a can and I swear these were so heavily drenched in wasabi seasoning, my mouth was on fire but I loved every minute of it. I long to find another can with THAT much seasoning (kind of like when you find that one great bag of Grippos that has so much seasoning!), oh, but I'm still searchin!

Coming in at a VERY close third is the Lime 'N Chili kind. The very first time I had them, it was such a strong lime flavor that I loved. Ever since then, however, I have found that these don't have as much flavor as the first time I had them. In fact, they have tasted pretty plain. But I just love the mix of the tart lime with the spicy chili. I just wish it had MORE seasoning. Oh if it did, this could maybe be up there in the running for first. There would be a 3-way tie for first!

I have also tried the Blazin' Buffalo Wing flavor, which I was really excited about and expected to be yummy, but they were really just super salty. In a bad way. And I like salt. I also tried the Jalapeno Smokehouse which again, I expected to be delish. But they were missing something and didn't really have any seasoning on them, just a little jalapeno flavor, like it was inside the nut, not a coating on the outside. I didn't like these at all.

Their website claims they also have a Salt & Vinegar, and a Salt & Pepper flavor - both of which I haven't yet tried. I haven't seen those flavors in any of my neighboring stores.

Buy these. Soon and very soon! If you like bold flavors.

WWDB? Oscar Mayer Center Cut Thick-Sliced Bacon!

WWDB? = What Would Desi Buy?

It's the best kind of bacon there is! That I've encountered anyways. Don't get the regular naturally smoked, it can be too thin and flimsy. Yes, it does come with less slices because they are thick. But it is well worth it. And don't even think about microwaving it!
